This is what I need, but with the TA4F / XLR mini male going to 1/4" male.

Kinja'd!!!

Can someone tell me what this connection type is called? It’s from a Shure Brothers wireless lavalier microphone.

That would be an XLR. EDIT: Mini-XLR.

That is a TA4F connector.

That’s what it looks like to me.

I need an adapter that has TA4F male on one end and 1/4" male on the other.

Like This?

Also, if I’m reading that correctly, you’re trying to plug the mic pack into something else?

Yes, only the TA4F needs to be male.

Two things:

First, You are gonna have an issue because all 4 pins on the TA4 are used in that connector.

Second, this thread might give more info: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/…

Edit: eh, maybe not? Idk if this is the right diagram:

Edit 2: Here’s a TA4M (the male version of TA4 plugs) to 3.5mm stereo (TRS, but smaller size): http://www.markertek.com/product/ta4m-m…

Thanks for the reply. It turns out I’m in a bit of a coffin corner with regard to connectors. The wireless unit I’m using is more than ten years old and I may need to replace it.

Regarding that Toyota radio, there are FM modulators out there, some of which folks say aren’t too horrible, and my daugher — not I — has to listen to it, and for sub-$20 and zero effort, I may give one of those a try. Do you have any thoughts on a Monster RadioPlay 300 versus an iClever Whatever ?

If the radio is easy to remove, I’d recommend looking for one which is a wired FM modulator. It sits between the antenna plug and the radio (you disconnect the antenna, plug it into the box, then plug the box into the radio). Gives you good sound, but also removes one thing which is easily stolen (if left in plain sight) as well. Just the 3.5mm jack and a little switch. Admittedly, this is another thing I’ve stolen from Murilee.

Sounds like a good plan. The radio could not be easier to R&I. Where are you located, approximately?

If it were less than 200 miles, I’d drive there and buy you a coffee. You just always come up with the most fascinating stuff.

It’s all good. Doing something nice on here makes up (I hope) for some of the shitstirring.

You? Shitstirring? I love this community and I don’t see anything wrong with pointing out that someone is being a turd. If you ever find yourself in the San Francisco Bay Area, do drop me a line and I’ll buy you that coffee.
